Brides Against Breast Cancer

Brides Against Breast Cancer is a traveling wedding dress showcase that raises money to donate to breast cancer organizations. BABC accepts donations in the form of wedding dresses and favors and hosts a panel of photographers, makeup artists, caterers, and garment experts in their showcase to give the bride who says "Yes to the dress!" an unforgettable experience.
The girls of LKS instantly became personal shoppers and fitting room attendants as soon as the new brides arrived in the Le Meridien hotel Cambridge MIT. Between the lace, jewels and tulle some of us (many of us) got caught up in our own fantasy weddings.
Helping a bride find her dress is truly an exciting and wholesome experience! Everybody deserves that moment of joy when looking forward to their big day - and Brides Against Breast Cancer makes sure that brave and strong Breast Cancer Survivors do so too.

Presenting the newest pledge class!

Say welcome to Alpha Rho's new Mu class! One of the most important parts of pledging is creating a banner with your pledge class - it will represent your year forever :) The banner looks adorable girls! Can't wait to see more of you on the LKS blog!

Bigs and Littles!

Who is your big? Who is your little?
I hope everyone is super excited with their new families! On October 3rd, the LKS's big/little review exploded with the popping of balloons and confetti everywhere. Having a big is having an older sister who will spoil and help you with everything! Enjoy your bigs, girls! They will be wanting more children next year :)

Bouvé Health Fair

The annual Bouvé Health Fair was held on Wednesday October 2nd, 2013. Students lined up outside the Curry ballroom to get their free flu shots and water bottles as well as donate blood. This year, LKS created a board about Breast Cancer Awareness. We voted on this topic because we felt the issue resonated with our fraternity's goals on empowering women. Cye, our professional chair explained the importance of getting regular mammograms after the age of 40 to check for breast cancer symptoms.
Individuals with a known genetic history of disease are at greater risk of having it. Other factors such as alcohol and contraceptives also have shown correlation with breast cancer. The new girls will be presenting pamphlets at Dimmock Center for Founder's day as well!  Good Luck!

M-M-M-Mocktails!

It was that time of year again! Mocktails, known as bid night to the older girls, "Ihavetoclimbhowmanyflightsofstairsnow?" to the new girls was held September 17th, 2013 at 1010 Willis. Sixteen potential lambs were present and mingled with many sisters we haven't seen all year! The night passed with matching games, introductions, talking about aspirations, and of course, mocktails crafted by our lovely Julia Gaelea.
Until late night, the girls were sent home and sisters distributed chrysanthemums throughout the campus. Hope everyone had fun! From all our pictures it seems like we definitely did.
